The Sundaram Lab is looking for motivated and enthusiastic research assistants and post-docs excited to work in an intellectually stimulating and inclusive environment. Our lab focuses on novel mechanisms of force transmission in airway smooth muscle using in vitro, ex vivo, and in vivo disease models. We are also involved in collaborations with pharmaceutical chemists to advance small molecule inhibitors of the targets we identify.
The ideal staff research assistant candidate should have a BS or equivalent degree in biology or related field and a desire to focus on gaining skills and contributing to ongoing projects in the lab. Attention to detail, organization, responsible work ethic, and the ability to communicate and work well with others are required. Some experience with standard biological techniques and mouse work is preferred, but will be taught in lab.
The ideal post-doctoral candidate should have a PhD or equivalent degree in molecular biology or related field with a strong foundation in cell and molecular biology and a willingness to work collaboratively with others. Experience with standard biological techniques in molecular biology (protein, molecular, cell, tissue) and basic microscopy is required. Experience with mouse work is preferred. The candidate should have a strong publication record, good written and verbal communication, and a strong work ethic to allow for both independent and collaborative science within the research team.
Interested applicants should submit (1) a brief statement explaining their interest in the position, (2) a CV, and (3) the contact information of 3 references by email to Dr. Aparna Sundaram at [email protected].
