Aparna is a California native. She completed her undergraduate, medical school, internship, and residency in Chicago, before returning to California for fellowship in Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine and postdoctoral research training at UCSF. She co-directs the Molecular Medicine pathway for physician-scientists, and is a firm believer in the importance of longitudinal mentorship and finding joy in your work. She is always up for a cup of tea with friends.

Dr. Abeydeera is a medicinal chemist, cell biologist and biomedical engineer with an interest in drug discovery and development against infectious diseases, cancers and inflammatory diseases. Dr. Abeydeera aims to identify novel drug targets to combat antimicrobial resistance, overcome resistance development in ovarian cancer, and mitigate exaggerated airway narrowing in chronic airway diseases.

Amy graduated from UC Davis with a BS in Genetics. She is interested in exploring how smooth muscle interacts with the extracellular environment in chronic airway diseases. Outside of the lab, Amy enjoys spending time with her Pomeranian, working on arts and crafts, reading, and gaming.
